What an IP PBX system changes once you already have one
Most organizations reach us with voice spread across inherited PBXs, one per acquisition, region or building. HoduPBX replaces that estate with one system and one numbering plan.
Endpoints register over your existing network using SIP, so sites come across without recabling. Routing, dial plans, class of service and call recording policy are defined once and applied everywhere, while each business unit or customer stays isolated in its own tenant. Capacity becomes a licensing and configuration decision rather than a hardware project, which is what turns adding a region or absorbing an acquisition into a matter of weeks instead of quarters.
Platform capabilities
- Scales to 50,000 extensions on a single deployment
- Tenant isolation per business unit, region or customer
- Cloud, on-premises or hybrid, decided per region if needed
- Multi-carrier trunking with ranked failover and least cost routing
- Zero-touch provisioning for bulk endpoint rollout
- Rating and invoicing built in, with no mediation layer
| Tenant | Extensions | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Northline Logistics | 1,240 | Postpaid |
| Meridian Health | 860 | Postpaid |
| Acacia Telecom | 12,405 | Prepaid |
| Brightside BPO | 3,120 | Prepaid |
A single operations team runs every tenant from this view. Each tenant is isolated, with its own numbering, routing policy and reporting boundary.
Why HoduPBX
What teams tell us made the move worth it
The evaluations we lose are rarely about features. The ones we win come down to deployment flexibility, single and multi-tenant operation, and running the whole estate from one console without a separate billing or reporting stack.
- Consolidation without a rip and replaceOne platform absorbs inherited PBXs site by site, so an estate built up through acquisition converges on a single dial plan over time rather than in one cutover.
- Deployment that answers to policyWhere data residency or security standards dictate on-premises, run it on-premises, and run other regions in the cloud from the same platform.
- Carrier independenceMultiple SIP trunk providers run concurrently with ranked failover, which keeps commercial leverage at renewal and removes a single point of failure.
- Governance at estate scaleDial plan, class of service, recording policy and caller ID are defined centrally and delegated per tenant, with administrative actions logged.
- One operations consoleProvisioning, routing, rating and reporting share a data model, so capacity planning does not depend on exporting from three systems.
- Predictable cost as you growLicensing scales with extensions rather than per feature, and least cost routing works against the carrier rates you already negotiated.
One identity per user across every endpoint. Extension, presence, recording policy and class of service follow the person, not the device.
Inside HoduPBX
Four consoles run the whole estate
Provisioning, routing, rating and reporting share one data model. Nothing gets reconciled in a spreadsheet, and no second vendor sits between your team and the call records.
One platform, one login
Provisioning, routing, rating and reporting run on one data model, so there is no second product to license, integrate or reconcile against.
Walk through it with usRun 40 tenants the way you would run one
Tenants are provisioned from templates, so a new business unit or customer inherits dial plan, class of service, recording policy and caller ID rules on creation. Each one is isolated at the data layer while a single operations team retains platform-wide visibility.
- Tenant isolation at the data layer, with delegated administration per business unit.
- Zero-touch provisioning brings thousands of endpoints online without a site visit.
- Role-based access scoped per tenant, with administrative actions written to an audit trail.
- 50,000 extensions per deployment, reached by adding capacity rather than re-architecting.
Tenants can differ in size, structure and rating without splitting the platform. A single-site business and a 38-customer reseller run side by side.
Dial plans that survive reorganizations
Routing is rule-driven rather than hard-coded to extensions, so a departmental move or a site closure is a policy change instead of a rebuild. Time zones, holiday calendars, language branches and failover targets are defined per tenant and versioned.
- Multi-level IVR with branching on department, language, caller attributes or priority.
- Time-of-day routing against per-site business hours and holiday calendars.
- Overflow and failover targets defined per queue, per site and per trunk group.
- Automatic rerouting when a trunk or network path degrades, without manual intervention.
Each tenant maintains its own call flow. Changes are scoped to that tenant and do not touch the shared platform configuration.
Rating and settlement inside the platform
Usage is rated against per-tenant tariffs as calls complete, with invoicing, credit control and low-balance handling built in. For ITSPs, and for any operator cross-charging business units, that removes a mediation layer and a reconciliation cycle from the month end.
- Prepaid and postpaid models coexist on one system, set per tenant.
- Least cost routing across carrier routes, with failover ranking per destination.
- Multi-currency rating for operations billing across several jurisdictions.
- Automated invoicing and credit control, with usage exportable to finance systems.
| Carrier route | Destination | Rate | Share of traffic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Route A, primary | US and Canada | Lowest | |
| Route C | United Kingdom | Lowest | |
| Route B, failover | US and Canada | Standard | |
| Route E | APAC | Lowest |
Operational visibility while the traffic is still live
Trunk registration, concurrent channel use, queue depth and answer rates are visible as they happen, so capacity and routing decisions get made inside the shift. Historical reporting and full voice logging sit behind the same interface for capacity planning and dispute resolution.
- Live channel and queue monitoring across every tenant and trunk group.
- Capacity reporting on concurrent calls, peak utilization and headroom by site.
- Health monitoring for trunk registration, endpoint state and failed call attempts.
- Voice logging with retention policy, access control and searchable transcripts.

Core capabilities
Capabilities that ship with the platform
Every item below is licensed as part of HoduPBX. None of it introduces a separate login, a separate vendor contract or a separate reporting stack.
Cloud IP PBX
Hold the licence and run the IP PBX system on your own cloud account. You keep administrative control and your own escalation path, with no hardware to buy.
Hosted IP PBX
HoduSoft or your partner operates the instance, handles patching and capacity, and you consume it as a service. The shortest route off ageing PBX hardware.
Prepaid & Postpaid Rating
Rate usage against per-tenant tariffs as calls complete, with invoicing, credit control and low-balance handling, and export to finance systems.
Zero-Touch Provisioning
Bring thousands of endpoints online without a site visit. Templates carry firmware, dial plan and class of service by device model and location.
Multi-Level IVR & Routing
Branch on department, language, caller attributes or priority, with time-of-day rules against per-site business hours and holiday calendars.
Real-Time Analytics
Concurrent channel use, queue depth, answer rates and trunk registration visible live, with historical reporting for capacity planning.
Failover & Overflow
Ranked failover targets per queue, site and trunk group, with automatic rerouting when a carrier path or network link degrades.
Single-Tenant Deployment
One organization on a dedicated instance, fully isolated, with the whole dial plan, routing policy and recording configuration under your own control.
Multi-Tenant Deployment
Many customers, brands or business units on shared infrastructure, each with its own numbering, routing and reporting boundary, plus sub-tenant hierarchy.
Reseller Module
Offer PBX services under your own brand, with sub-tenant hierarchy, delegated administration and rating to support recurring revenue.
Security & Compliance
ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 9001:2015 frameworks, encrypted signaling and media, role-based access and STIR/SHAKEN call authentication.
CRM & Directory Integration
Screen pop and call logging against Salesforce, Zoho, Dynamics and HubSpot, with directory sync and SSO through SAML 2.0 or OIDC.
Unified Voice & Video
Voice, video and chat on one identity and one extension, with HoduConf for larger sessions and no separate client to license.
Voicemail & Fax Services
Voicemail to email, fax to email and email to fax, retained so regulated document workflows survive the move off legacy hardware.
Voice Logging & Retention
Full call recording with configurable retention, access control and searchable transcripts for dispute resolution and regulatory review.
Migration
Retiring a legacy estate without a flag day
Carriers are withdrawing copper and TDM services across major markets, which puts a date on a decision most organizations would rather phase. The constraint is usually not the technology. It is doing it without a service interruption anyone notices.
Existing endpoints and numbering are retained
Supported IP phones re-register to HoduPBX over the existing network, and zero-touch provisioning reconfigures them in bulk. Number ranges port across, so the dial plan your users know does not change.
Site-by-site waves, with rollback
Legacy and new platforms run in parallel behind one numbering plan, so internal dialing works across both during the transition. Each wave has an agreed rollback path, and no wave depends on the one after it.
Carrier contracts stay where they are
Bring your existing SIP trunks rather than renegotiating under time pressure. Multiple carriers can run concurrently with least cost routing and ranked failover per destination.
Deployment follows policy, not the vendor
Run it in your own data center where residency or security policy requires it, in the cloud, or split across both with different regions under different models. The platform is the same in each case.
Capabilities retained from the legacy estate
Behind the cutover: 100+ partners across 6 continents and offices in India, the United States and Canada, with 24/7 technical support and a named escalation path through go-live and into steady state.
Add-on modules
Modules you can license as the estate grows
Each module runs inside the same platform and inherits its tenancy, access control and reporting. There is no separate deployment and no second integration project.
Connectivity
SIP Trunking
Terminate multiple carrier trunks on the platform with ranked failover per destination, and consolidate trunk management across every site.
Messaging
SMS & MMS
Send transactional messages, service alerts and appointment reminders from the same numbers and the same platform as voice.
Endpoints
Webphone
WebRTC calling in the browser for contractors, temporary sites and BCP scenarios, with no endpoint to ship or provision.
Queues
Queue Pro
Live queue monitoring, skills-based routing, wait time visibility and sticky agent handling for teams running service levels.
Records
Voice Transcription
Searchable transcripts across recorded calls, which turns a retention archive into something compliance and QA can actually query.
Cost
Least Cost Routing
Route each call over the most economical available carrier against your negotiated rates, with failover ranking held per destination.
Deployment
Deployment, tenancy and rating are independent choices
These three choices are usually made by different people, and they change at different times. None of them constrains the others, and none is irreversible once you are in production.
Not sure which combination fits?
Most organizations arrive with one of the three already fixed by policy or by a contract that still has time to run. Tell us which one, and we will work the other two around it.
Integrations
Fits the systems already in the estate
Directory, identity, CRM, carriers and endpoints connect through documented interfaces. Where a system is bespoke, integration work is scoped as part of the engagement rather than left to you.
CRM and business apps
Where your customer data lives.
SIP trunk providers
Bring your own carrier, or several.
IP phones and endpoints
Auto-provisioned over your network.
Single Sign-On
SAML 2.0 and OIDC.
HoduSoft platform
Runs alongside your other Hodu products.
APIs and automation
Programmatic access for provider and in-house IT teams.
Bespoke integration is scoped during the engagement, not treated as an exception.
Security and compliance
The controls that come up in security review
These are the items that surface in vendor assessments and penetration test scoping. Each is configurable, and each applies on whichever infrastructure you run.
These controls support your security and compliance program. They do not replace it, and they are not legal advice. Your organization remains responsible for the telecom and data obligations that apply in each jurisdiction you operate in.

Implementation
How a migration of this size actually runs
Numbering, carrier contracts, endpoint inventory and integration points are mapped before any cutover date is agreed. Sites move in waves, and each wave has a rollback path.
Discovery
Extension inventory, site topology, concurrency peaks, carrier contracts and every integration point.
Design
Numbering plan, tenant model, routing policy, deployment topology and the wave order for cutover.
Build
Platform stood up, tenants templated, carriers terminated, directory and CRM connected.
Validate
Load and failover testing against your concurrency peaks, with acceptance criteria agreed in writing.
Cutover
Sites move in waves alongside the legacy estate, each with a rollback path and a support window.
Steady state
Capacity reviews, routing and cost tuning, and a named escalation path after handover.
Evaluation
What comes up in technical evaluation
They are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same commercial arrangement. With a cloud IP PBX you hold the licence and run the system on your own cloud account, keeping administrative control and your own escalation path. With a hosted IP PBX, HoduSoft or your partner operates the instance, handles patching and capacity, and you consume it as a service. HoduPBX supports both, along with on-premises and hybrid.
A single HoduPBX deployment supports up to 50,000 extensions. Concurrent call capacity depends on the media handling profile, codec mix and whether transcoding or recording is enabled, so it is sized against your measured busy-hour traffic rather than quoted as one number. We validate the design against your own concurrency peaks before cutover.
Sites move in waves rather than a single cutover. Your existing PBX and HoduPBX run in parallel behind one numbering plan, so internal dialing works across both during the transition. Each wave has acceptance criteria and a rollback path, and no wave depends on the one after it.
In most cases yes. Supported IP phones re-register to HoduPBX over your existing network and are reconfigured in bulk by auto provisioning, so there is no desk-by-desk visit and no recabling. HoduPBX also supports bring your own trunking, with several carriers terminating at once under least cost routing and ranked failover per destination.
Endpoints are provisioned zero touch against templates held by device model and location, carrying firmware, dial plan and class of service. A new site or a bulk replacement is a template assignment rather than a manual build, which is usually where the labor saving against an older PBX shows up first.
Each tenant has its own users, number ranges, routing policy, recording configuration and reporting boundary, separated at the data layer. Administration is delegated per tenant with role-based access, while a platform operations team retains estate-wide visibility. Sub-tenant hierarchies are supported for resellers and for group structures with subsidiaries.
For most operators, yes. Usage is rated against per-tenant tariffs as calls complete, with prepaid and postpaid models, multi-currency support, invoicing, credit control and low-balance handling. Records export to finance systems, which removes a mediation layer and a month-end reconciliation cycle.
Routes are ranked per destination against the rates you have loaded, and each call takes the cheapest available route that passes quality and capacity checks. If a route fails or degrades, traffic moves to the next ranked carrier automatically, so cost optimization and failover are handled by the same mechanism.
The system supports redundant deployment with failover between nodes, and routing policy carries ranked failover targets per queue, site and trunk group so traffic reroutes automatically when a path degrades. Specific topology, recovery objectives and geographic separation are designed against your RTO and RPO during the design phase.
Yes. Single sign-on is supported through SAML 2.0 and OIDC with providers including Okta, Azure AD, Google, OneLogin, Ping and Auth0, and directory synchronization keeps user provisioning aligned with your source of truth. Screen pop and call logging are available against Salesforce, Zoho, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and HubSpot.
HoduPBX is built on ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 9001:2015 frameworks, with encrypted signaling and media, role-based access scoped per tenant, administrative audit logging, and STIR/SHAKEN call authentication to address caller ID spoofing. A security pack is available for vendor assessment.
REST APIs and webhooks cover user and extension provisioning, tenant management, call record retrieval and event notification, so the system can be driven from your existing service management or HR joiner and leaver processes rather than administered only through the console.
Technical support runs 24/7 with a named escalation path, backed by 100+ partners across 6 continents and offices in India, the United States and Canada. After handover the engagement includes capacity reviews and routing and cost tuning rather than ending at cutover.
Bring us the constraints, not just the requirements
The useful conversations start with the things that are fixed: the residency rule, the carrier contract with two years left, the site that cannot take an outage. Send us those and we will tell you plainly whether HoduPBX fits.
